MODES OF COMMUNICATION USED BY ADVISORS In the TMR River Cruise Outlook 2022, most advisors said that they still used the more traditional means of communication such as emails (93%), phone calls (90%), and in-person meetings (76%). The incidence of text messag- ing and messaging apps was comparatively low at 56% and 40% each. The last two years show a dramatic and posi- tive shift in the use of more modern means of communication, with more than 9 out of 10 advisors saying that they communicate with clients via text messaging. In the case of land tours, this is probably even more important because the client may only have access to text messaging when out on a trip and in need of urgent communication with the advisor (especially FITs). While emails and phone calls continue to remain popular, as they should, the increased use of messaging apps and video calls shows that the advisor community is adapting to newer technology to reach the client where they are. 28 | CHART 17 TRENDS IN LAND TOURS Text messaging Emails Phone call Messaging apps In person Video call 95% 35% 93% 81% 93% 72% 88% 48% 85% 58% 71% 68% Client side Supplier side
