INCIDENCE OF BOOKING AIR SEPARATELY FOR LAND TOUR BOOKINGS

CHART 9
Air fares are seldom an inclusion in the land tours.
Only 4% of the advisors said that they always
include air in their land tour bookings.
There was a time in the 1970s and 1980s when
group travel was inclusive of airfares. That is no
longer the case for a variety of reasons. Airlines
have stopped giving commission to agencies for
group bookings

. This is also a win-win for the
travelers who can book their air travel to suit their
own time and budget constraints.

AVERAGE SPEND (PER PERSON PER DAY) FOR LAND TOURS
There is complete polarity in land tour
clientele in terms of spend. One in 4
advisors said that they sell high-end
luxury land tours where their clients
spent more than $1,000 per person
per day. On the other hand, one in five
advisors had clientele spending less
than $250. Nearly 4 out of 10 advisors
said that their clients spent between
$250 and $500 per day per person on a
land tour.
This share of high-end clientele is akin
to that of luxury cruise, hinting that
those advisors who have a larger cruise
clientele could also offer them land
tours with comparable luxuries and
experiences.
