When it comes to training needs FAM trips remain the
top choice because they allow advisors to understand
destination as well as the product better and sell the
experience to their clients with greater confidence.
In-person trade shows where advisors can meet others
and network are also useful, especially for those who
are just making inroads and have a lot of ground to
cover.
Virtual training has also picked up in demand since the
TMR River Cruise Outlook 2023. It’s jumped from 67%
to 81% in popularity because the training programs are
being made on-demand so that the advisor can access
them at their convenience, while still staying abreast
of industry trends.

TRAINING NEEDS
There has been a significant decrease in IC FAM opportunities post-COVID, and I am
not sure why. While there are plenty of opportunities for hosted buyer events (groups),
it remains challenging to find them for ICs. We have found we have better luck with
just reaching out to the tourism boards and the suppliers directly, and creating our own
independent FAMs for our team.
