The key motivators for traveling to the Arctic and
Antarctic include what we would expect from such a
geographically-pristine location: wilderness, landscapes,
and nature in its rawest form top the list (see Chart 9).
However, it is this deep yearning to do a once-in-a-
lifetime experience, often referred to as a “Bucket List,”
that resonates for Polar travelers. Whether it is polar
bears, icebergs, or penguins, travel to the Polar Regions
offers endless unique experiences. There’s also the
appeal of traveling where others haven’t and to get out
of a comfort zone and go beyond.
This is why selling Polar Travel requires advisors to
go beyond too, with their questions to ensure they are
meeting and exceeding client expectations.
Another interesting point on consumer motivations is the
level to which consumers want to experience adventure.
While 52% of respondents indicated that adventure was
high on their list, there’s also an invisible line between
those comfortable with potentially harsh conditions,
some risk, and how extreme they want to travel.
