Sabre, American Settle Lawsuits, Renew Agreement
by Michèle McDonaldSabre and American Airlines said on Wednesday that they had settled their disputes and renewed their current distribution agreement for multiple years.
American also agreed to negotiate with Sabre for additional technology services in the future.
Undisclosed sum
As part of the settlement, American will receive a monetary payment from Sabre for an undisclosed sum. The carrier will continue pursuing its direct connect initiative.
Terms of the settlement and distribution agreements require review and approval by the court presiding over AMR Corporation’s restructuring procedures.
The settlement applies to lawsuits filed in the state court in Tarrant County, Texas, and in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas.
American had charged Sabre with antitrust violations, and Sabre filed counterclaims.
Travelport is a defendant in the federal lawsuit, but that case has been stayed because Travelport and American are scheduled for mediation in December.
