Esquire Covers Five Off-The-Beaten-Trail Luxury Accommodations

The pursuit of offbeat destinations and accommodations is the focus of a recent Esquire Magazine article that features five properties from The Leading Hotels of the World. 

“Not only is discovering properties and booking rooms easier than it ever has been,” writes author Matthew Priest, “but due to the demand luxury hotels sell themselves on the sheer uniqueness of the experience.” 

The first property featured is Ponta Dos Ganchos, located on a private peninsula on Brazil’s Emerald Coast, “close enough to the centres of activity, yet far enough to provide serene relaxation.”  

Then there is La Bastide de Gordes, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France. The chateau is set high on a rock face with “an uninterrupted view of the Luberon mountain range across the valley.” 

The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam, is another exotic locale. The luxury villas, designed in ancient Vietnamese tradition, merge “harmoniously with contemporary aesthetic.”  

Also featured are Shambala Private Game Reserve, South Africa, and the oldest castle in Ireland, Ashford Castle, a 350-acre estate built in 1228 that offers horseback riding, falconry and golf.
