After an extensive two-year renovation of a historic landmark building, a new Luxury Collection Hotel has opened in Paisaje de la Luz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the heart of Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras.
The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, joins Marriott’s luxury portfolio. It was built in 1912 and was most recently branded The Westin Palace, Madrid. This new iteration restores its original architecture while freshening up the interiors.
“The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, has been significant in Madrid’s cultural tapestry for more than one hundred years,” said Helen Leighton, Marriott’s vice president of luxury brands for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Joining The Luxury Collection has allowed the team to truly embrace the building’s eclectic history, portrayed throughout the meticulous restoration.”
The hotel’s iconic stained glass and iron dome, terracotta interiors – including garlands and floral accents – and central palm tree chandelier have all been restored. The interior’s true colors remained hidden for decades.
The Palace features 470 guest rooms and suites that each have plenty of natural light and an elegant, residential feel. The hotel also has an all-day restaurant, La Cúpula, and a cocktail bar, 27 Club, the former Museo Bar.
