Carnival Ecstasy and Carnival Sensation will leave the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in order to make room for the addition of two more Excel Class ships, and the transfer of Costa Magica to the Carnival fleet. The two ships are the oldest in the fleet, having debuted in 1991 and 1993, respectively.

Carnival Ecstasy’s last sailing will be an October 10 cruise from Mobile. Carnival Sensation never returned to service after the COVID-19 pause.

“Our guests have remained passionate and supportive throughout the restart and 2022 gives us plenty of reasons for enthusiasm and excitement as we reach full operations in the U.S., prepare for our 50th birthday celebration, and await the arrival of Carnival Celebration this fall,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “Our very loyal guests, our vibrant homeport strategy, and our fleet of popular ships are strengths to our advantage as we adapt to changing opportunities and circumstances.”

Carnival Ecstasy will continue with its scheduled move from Jacksonville, Florida to Mobile, Alabama starting March 5 to operate sailings there through October 10. Cruises that had been scheduled for Carnival Sensation out of Mobile from October 15, 2022 through September 23, 2023 have been canceled. No cruises out of Mobile past October 10 have yet been announced.

As previously announced, Carnival Spirit will replace Carnival Ecstasy in Jacksonville, starting March 7, with cruises planned through April 9. Two cruises between April 9 and April 23 are canceled and Carnival will announce which ship will take over these itineraries soon.
