Norwegian Prima to Intro New Spa & Wellness Offerings

Travel advisors with spa and wellness-focused clients take note. Norwegian Cruise Line’s next new ship, Norwegian Prima, will feature new spa and wellness offerings including the first charcoal sauna at sea, as well as new body treatments, and a two-story cascading indoor spa waterfall inside the thermal suite.

“The debut of our Prima class has been all about elevating guest experiences across all the touch points that make a perfect holiday at sea, from food and beverage, entertainment, recreational activities and now spa and fitness,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of NCL. “Our latest health and wellness experiences were designed to awaken the senses of our guests like never before pairing world-class design and architecture with one-of-a-kind offerings that truly allow our guests to unwind and escape.”

Eight Thermal Options
Leading Prima’s eight Mandara Spa thermal offerings will be the first charcoal sauna at sea. Derived from Japanese and Korean wellness practices, the sauna uses a radiant heat system with an outer charcoal layer to reach temperatures between 86 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Charcoal is said to help boost circulation and metabolism, while also removing toxins from the body.

Other thermal experiences will include a salt and steam room, ice room, experiential showers, a flotation salt pool, the Vitality Pool, Finnish sauna, and an infrared sauna. Two new experiential beds, which make use of acoustic, vibrational and massage therapies, will also be part of the spa experience.

And for clients who like to relax in the thermal suite, there will be 22 hot stone loungers.

New Spa Treatments
Several new treatments will debut onboard Norwegian Prima as well.

Ocean Spa Wave Massage: This treatment puts guests on a water-filled cushion, which features a therapeutic warm wrap of nutrient-rich sea plants and marine algae that release stress and tension from the body. The treatment also includes a deep cleansing seaweed mask, aromatherapy essential oils, and scalp and foot massages.

Musclease Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap: A healing wrap that contains a warm blend of pine and rosemary essential oils to help ease the pains of rheumatism, arthritis, muscular spasms, and fatigue.

Cellutox Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap: This wrap is designed for anyone looking to improve the appearance of cellulite and reduce fluid retention. The treatment contains a detoxifying blend of juniper and lemon essential oils.

Zero Gravity Wellness Massage: In this 75-minute treatment, guests can relax on a zero-gravity treatment table that also administers a series of sophisticated massage techniques to the guest. Eight table positions enable the precise reach of every muscle group, including intensive work on the back and main muscles.

Fitness Changes
For the first time on an NCL ship, the fitness center will be located at the front of the ship, providing sweeping 270-degree views of the ocean.

New to the area will be a Performance Recovery room, an interactive wellness experience that uses a selection of Hyperice massage gun products in workshops and group fitness classes.
