Trevello World Holdings Inc., which recently expanded into the U.S. with its purchase of Gifted Travel Network, is preparing for even more expansion with the creation of a U.S. division and has appointed long-time industry veteran Erwing Hernandez as president.
Trevello, which was established in 1994, has long held an industry-leading position in the Canadian travel agency market. The U.S. division, which will operate as a standalone host agency, will launch on May 1, 2025. Aside from Hernandez’s appointment, former Norwegian Cruise Line president Andy Stuart also recently joined the group as co-chairman.
As president of the new division, Hernandez will spearhead Trevello’s U.S. strategy, and will oversee operations, sales, and advisor engagement.
“As we continue our expansion into the leading travel market, it’s critical that we have a leader who not only understands this market but is deeply committed to supporting travel advisors,” said Morris Chia, co-founder and CEO of Trevello World Holdings. “Erwing’s extensive experience, leadership, and strategic vision make him the right person to drive our growth while staying true to our mission of redefining the host agency model.”
Most recently, Hernandez served as senior vice president at Travel Planners International (TPI) in the U.S. He started as an agent with TPI in 1997 and spent more than 20 years with the company, working his way up through key leadership roles, including general manager and corporate vice president.
In a statement, Hernandez said that he and his team were committed to “reshaping the host agency model.”
“Trevello’s bold vision and advisor-first approach set it apart in the industry,” said Hernandez. “With a strong foundation in Canada and a commitment to reshaping the host agency model, we have an incredible opportunity to empower U.S. travel advisors and create new pathways for success. My focus is on building a strong, sustainable framework that allows advisors to build thriving businesses of their own.”
