No Talks To Postpone Olympics Due To Zika Concerns
by Jessica MontevagoEmbratur, the Brazilian Tourism Organization, set the record straight yesterday with a formal announcement that there have been no discussions to postpone or cancel the 2016 Olympics because of the Zika virus.
Embratur reiterated that the World Health Organization (WHO) has said it will not recommend restrictive travel measures, except for pregnant women. However, preventative measures are in place, including mosquito repellents and screens for doors and windows.
Embratur estimates between 300,000 and 500,000 international visitors will visit Brazil for the Olympics and Paralympics in August.
