Six Senses To Add Eight Properties By End 2017; Announces Ibiza
by Doug GollanSix Senses will add eight properties to its portfolio by the end of next year, including 13 apartments it has put into a rental pool as part of its residential development in the ski resort of Courchevel that will come online next week. Neil Jacobs, the group’s CEO, told Travel Market Report it will also add a 130-key Ibiza resort and a yet-to-be-determined resort in Kitzburg, Austria. Earlier this year the company announced it will come to New York with its first urban resort, part of a mixed-used development in Chelsea adjacent the High Line and the Hudson River. Openings next year include five properties in Bhutan, which visitors can use to create a tourism circuit, plus resorts in Fiji and Cambodia.
Jacobs said business from the U.S. is surging and Americans now are among the group’s top source markets, up from 12th place several years ago. He said the increase has been fueled by more bookings from travel agents, coupled with Six Senses’ ability to step beyond “just being a good spa company,” integrating wellness, sleep and nutrition into its programming. He noted there are now over 400 visiting practitioners that rotate among its locations.
