Well-Being Travel Teams Up With Leading Wellness Vacation Expert
by Maria LenhartWell-Being Travel, a marketing organization for travel agents focusing on medical and wellness travel, has a new preferred supplier agreement with Pravassa Wellness Travel, a leading provider of customized wellness vacations.
Kicking off the new partnership will be a full-day experiential wellness event for Well-Being Travel’s agent members on March 20 at Atmananda Yoga in New York City.
The event will provide attendees with a firsthand taste of Pravassa wellness experiences available to travelers, while exploring wellness travel as a growing niche for agents. A series of movement classes, including yoga, meditation, kettlebell training and tango, will be part of the event. Travel professionals will conclude the day with an afternoon tour of the neighborhood. Space is limited.
Broad potential of wellness travel
Among objectives of the event – and of the preferred supplier partnership itself – is to show travel sellers the broad potential that wellness travel has for agency clients, according to Anne Marie Moebes, executive vice president of Well-Being Travel, a sister company of Travel Market Report.
“Many travelers no longer look at vacations as a ‘cheat week’ with culinary indulgences and days filled with doing nothing,” she said. “Instead, we’re seeing that many want to maintain their healthy lifestyle away from home or use a getaway to jumpstart a new regime.
“It is Pravasa’s ability to meet that demand head-on with unique holistic experiences that makes it such a terrific addition to Well-Being Travel.”
Opportunity to work with agents
Pravassa Wellness Travel is “thrilled” at the opportunity to work with Well-Being Travel members and “expand our wellness vacations to clients around the world who are interest in health, wellness and cultural travel,” said director Linden Schaffer.
“As a forward-thinking organization that has proven itself a leader in the growing health and wellness travel niche, Well-Being Travel is exactly the type of partner we’re looking for – with marketing expertise and a strong membership base interested in health, wellness and cultural travel,” she said.
Schaffer’s objective during the one-day event is to show attendees just how varied wellness travel can be.
“We will focus on different aspects, including some that you might not think of as being part of wellness travel,” she said. “Along with yoga and meditation, we’ll have things like a life coach section and tango dancing.”
Growing consumer interest
Since Pravassa was launched in 2009, consumer interest in wellness travel has grown, as people have realized that wellness travel involves more than just going to a spa, according to Schaffer.
“The whole idea about wellness travel is that it takes into account not only your physical health, but your emotional, mental and spiritual well-being,” she said.
Wellness travel also ties in with growing consumer interest in experiential travel and interaction with local communities, she added.
“People are really interested in spending their money on an experience – most of my clients have already gone to an all-inclusive resort and laid on the beach. They are interested in their surroundings and how it relates to them, whether they want to do volunteer work or not. They are conscious travelers.”
