Asian Travelers Cancel Trips to Paris, Reuters Says
Asian tourists swiftly changed travel plans to bypass Paris and visit other European cities instead this weekend, according to Reuters. Following Friday’s deadly attacks, many tour operators canceled package trips. A Chinese travel firm told Reuters clients visiting Paris last weekend rerouted to Switzerland.
Taiwan’s Eva Airways said it saw similar reactions from passengers. Officials said the airline had 50 cancellations out of 300 bookings on Sunday. Several airlines, such as Air China and Singapore Airlines, are waiving cancellation fees for flights to Paris.
More than 2 million Chinese were expected to visit France this year, up from 1.7 million last year, according to Chinese state media. For Japanese, France is the 12th most popular travel destination.
