What to Know About the Upcoming Disney Treasure, the Newest Ship from Disney Cruise Line

What to Know About the Upcoming Disney Treasure, the Newest Ship from Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Treasure, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet expansion, will set sail in December 2024, embarking on its inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Florida. Adventure will serve as the architectural and thematic foundation of the ship, in honor of Walt Disney’s legendary passion for travel and exploration. (Disney)

Disney Cruise Line is again gearing up to expand its fleet with the addition of its newest ship, Disney Treasure.

The ship is currently in the midst of production at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. It is scheduled to embark on its debut voyage, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, on Dec. 21, 2024. From there, it will sail an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Bookings will open for Castaway Club members as soon as Sept. 12, 2023, and then to all guests on Sept. 20, 2023.

On Tuesday, Disney Cruise Line teased some of what’s to come on Treasure. Here’s what guests can expect:

Return of some Disney Wish staples
When Disney Wish debuted in the summer of 2022, it marked a new era for Disney Cruise Line, ushering in the largest expansion in its history. Disney Treasure, a sister-ship to Wish, will feature some of what made Disney Wish such a monumental addition to the fleet.

That includes Worlds of Marvel, one of three rotational, main dining venues in experiences onboard, along with 1923, one of the other venues. It also includes the Walt Disney Theatre, Palo Steakhouse, The Rose Lounge, Mickey and Minnie’s Festival of Foods, Toy Story Splash Zone, dual cinemas, Senses Spa, and more.

For entertainment in the Walt Disney Theatre, Disney says that guests on those first set of sailings can enjoy Broadway-style productions of  “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure,” along with another, not-yet-revealed production.

Plaza De Coco
For the first time in the cruise line’s history, Disney will pull inspiration from the Disney and Pixar film Coco via the Plaza De Coco. The dining venue will join 1923 and World of Marvel in that rotational schedule. Its menu includes “modern twists on traditional Mexican fare” as well as a lineup of live entertainment with a storyline that picks up right where “Coco” leaves off.

A new Marvel dining experience, in addition to World of Marvel, is also coming to the Disney Treasure, but was only teased with more details to come

Sarabi
Taking the place of Luna on Wish is Sarabi, a two-story entertainment hub that will serve as the home of daytime activities, game shows, and adults-only entertainment. The venue is named for the lioness matriarch from Disney’s “The Lion King.”

Disney already has some of the lineup for Sarabi in place, which includes “Match Your Mate” and “Family Time Game Show,” along with “Villains Game Night,” which debuted on Wish.

Periscope Pub
Brand new to Treasure is the Periscope Pub, a themed venue inspired by the 1954 film, and Disney Parks attractions, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” with submarine-styled interiors and a glass ceiling. The eatery will offer sports games on televisions, along with a menu of craft beer and light bites.

Tomorrowland Tower Suite
Just like Disney Wish, Disney Treasure will debut with a mega, two-story penthouse suite in the ship’s forward funnel, though the Disney Treasure’s will be themed differently.

The Tomorrow Tower Suite, which is what Disney is calling the suite on Treasure, will be themed via inspiration from Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park with a futuristic, energetic design.

“Throughout the suite, dynamic art pieces, molten metal accents and futuristic glass accents will evoke the distinct atmosphere of EPCOT’s World Discovery neighborhood,” Disney said on Tuesday.

Other suites
In addition to the Tomorrowland Tower Suite, Disney Treasure will also include four royal suites that it is calling the Bagheera Royal Suites & Raja Royal Suites. Those suites will be themed from The Jungle Book (the Bagheera suites) and Aladdin (Rajah Royal). All of those will be two-story suites with luxury touches.

New Aquamouse
Treasure is also getting an updated version of Aquamouse, a waterslide that Disney debuted on Wish as the “first-ever” Disney attraction at sea. Treasure’s version will feature the Curse of the Golden Egg, a new pyramid-themed Mickey and Minnie journey that will take guests on two-person ride vehicles through 760 feet of tubes.

Skipper Society
Also new on Treasure is Skipper Society, a centrally located bar and lounge themed after the iconic Disney attraction The Jungle Cruise, including service from “dry-witted skippers who lead world-famous tours across treacherous waterways.”
