Disney Reveals Name and Details of Newest Disney Cruise Line Ship

Disney Reveals Name and Details of Newest Disney Cruise Line Ship

Disney Cruise Line revealed the name of its next ship, the Disney Destiny, along with details about its design theme, “Heroes and Villains.” The ship, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will draw on the legacy of beloved Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions to forge a cruise vacation that will empower guests to embrace their own calling aboard every unforgettable voyage. Disney Cruise Line has officially revealed the name of its newest ship—Disney Destiny.

The ship, currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, is scheduled to join the Disney fleet sometime in 2025. It will be a sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted in 2022, and Disney Treasure, which will join the Disney fleet later this year.

As opposed to Wish and Treasure, the new Disney Destiny will be themed for “Heroes and Villains.” According to this week’s announcement, the Disney team took inspiration from some iconic Disney classics that pitted heroes against villains including stories “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.” Guests can expect to see all those stories, and more, incorporated into the design of Disney Destiny.

There’s much more to come about Disney Destiny, but Disney did tease a few details outside of the new theme including the filigree artwork for the bow:

“Minnie Mouse striking a valiant pose in a heroic ensemble, her cape waving majestically in the sea breeze as she boldly leads guests toward their vacation destinies,” Disney said.

Destiny will be the third ship in the cruise line’s Wish class, joining those two other sister ships, Wish and Treasure. Disney is also in the process of launching Disney Adventure, the first ship in its Global class that will be its largest ever (about 6,000 capacity) and will homeport in Singapore.

All those ships are part of a massive expansion for Disney Cruise Line, the biggest in its history, that started with the post-COVID launch of Wish. Outside of the ships, the expansion also includes Disney’s new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
