Vidanta Cruises, a new venture from the Mexican resort developer, Grupo Vidanta, will sail its first cruise later this year, marking a new entrant into the world of luxury cruising.
Vidanta boasts itself as Mexico’s first luxury cruise line. Its ships, the first of which is called Vidanta Elegant, will sail exclusively Mexican coastline cruises.
The company promises that Vidanta Elegant will bring “an unprecedented level of luxury” to the industry. The ship will enter service at 153 meters long and 15,396 gross tons, offering 149 staterooms and suites (each with a personal concierge), and with a one-to-one passenger-to-crew ratio. It will offer a top-deck pool, 11 bars and lounges, a theater, a full-service space and fitness center, and more.

For dining, Vidanta has brought onboard two world renowned chefs to design its offerings: Chef Eric Pansu, named Best Chef in France; and Pastry Chef Pascal Molines, named Best Pastry Chef in France and World Pastry Chef Champion.
Grupo Vidanta said that it expects to use its 45-year legacy on land to establish “an unprecedented level of luxury” at sea.
“Vidanta is proud to bring a revolutionary approach to cruising,” said Grupo Vidanta’s Executive Vice President Iván Chávez. “We have built a legacy 45 years in the making based on the extraordinary luxury and personalized service offered by our resort vacations. Now, we’re extending that legacy to the open sea, while utilizing our unique perspective as a Mexican company to give access to the hidden gems of the coastline and rarely-offered transformative cultural experiences.”
