Marriott to Open 60 New Hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America
Marriott International is doubling down on its investment in the Caribbean and Latin America, with 60 hotels under development in the region, including 11 in Brazil.
The new builds, scheduled to come on line in the next three years, will be a 75% increase over Marriott’s current 93 hotels.
Since an economic slowdown in the southern part of the region, “savvy investors with a long-term perspective are taking advantage of the reduced price of assets, land and construction to acquire, develop and brand hotels,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Marriott’s chief development officer of the Caribbean and Latin America, and “there remains a strong opportunity for quality brand experiences in the sector.”
Marriott has opened eight hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America, and expects to open nine more, this year.
