Celebrity Launches High-Speed WiFi Across Fleet

by Daniel McCarthy  April 05, 2016

Celebrity Cruises has joined the ranks of other ocean cruise lines, giving its guests access premium WiFi on ships across its fleet.

Starting on the Celebrity Reflection, Celebrity is adding Xcelerate, a high-speed WiFi service, on all of its ships.

According to Celebrity, Xcelerate provides cruisers with faster web browsing, accelerated page loads, and dependable video streaming.

“Xcelerate is going to give our digitally connected guests a new opportunity to share their amazing travel experiences with the world in real time,” said Celebrity Cruises CEO and president Lisa Lutoff-Perlo in a statement.

With the announcement, Celebrity joins Royal Caribbean, which rolled out its high speed Voom internet last year, and Carnival, with its WiFi@Sea network, as cruise lines providing their own WiFi onboard ships.

For unlimited use, Xcelerate will cost $140 per person on five- to nine-day sailings and $199 per person on sailings of 10 days or more.

Royal Caribbean’s Voom costs $15 per device per day for unlimited use while Carnival’s WiFi@Sea costs $25 per day for unlimited use.

Cruisers booking Celebrity’s “Go Big, Go Better, Go Best!” offer can choose Xcelerate as their free perk. Most of Celebrity’s 2017-2018 sailings are eligible for the offer.
