Accor SA, HNA Group Reportedly Consider Bidding on Carlson’s Hotel Holdings
French hotel giant Accor SA and Chinese conglomerate HNA Group Co. are considering bidding on Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, according to Bloomberg Business, citing sources close to the matter.
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which operates Radisson and Park Plaza brands, could sell for about $2 billion, Bloomberg sources said, and a buyer could be chosen by the middle of the year. Carlson is also reportedly looking into other options for the assets, and no final decision about the sale has been made yet.
HNA Group, China’s fourth largest airline group, also expressed interest in buying Starwood Hotels & Resort last year, eventually losing out to Marriott International. HNA is the biggest shareholder in Spanish hotelier NH Hotel Group SA.
Accor operates Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Grand Mercure, and Novotel brands. In December, Accor agreed to buy FRHI Hotels & Resorts, parent company of luxury brands Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissôtel, for about $2.9 billion.
