Plans are in the works for a JW Marriott hotel near Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Construction of the new JW Marriott Bonnet Creek will begin later this year; it’s scheduled to open in in the first quarter of 2020, around the same time Disney plans to open its immersive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Hollywood Studios.

The 700,000-square-foot, 516-room hotel will be built across 10 acres at Bonnet Creek, a mixed-use resort development that also houses Wyndham’s Bonnet Creek Resort and Hilton Orlando Bonnett Creek, at the southwest corner of Epcot Center Drive and Interstate 4.

The 4.5-star hotel will include 80 suites, two presidential suites and 16 two-bedroom suites with optional connections to create four-bedroom family units. Guests at the hotel will be able to see Disney’s fireworks show from the rooftop bar on the ninth floor. The expansive swimming pool will include terraces, decks and an area for children, while a special amenity deck that will offer tennis, basketball and shuffleboard. There will also be an indoor/outdoor restaurant, 50,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, a 10-treatment room spa, fitness center, children’s playroom and teen center.

This will be Marriott International’s second JW Marriott-branded hotel in Orlando; it opened the 998-room JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes in 2013.

The addition to Orlando’s luxury market comes as Central Florida’s $60 billion tourism industry attracted a record 68 million visitors last year. The area’s other properties in the luxury segment include Grand Floridian at Disney, Four Seasons Resort Orlando and Waldorf Astoria Orlando.
