Starting this week, travelers flying out of Washington Dulles International Airport will be able to complete their Global Entry enrollment on departure, becoming the first airport to allow applicants to do so.
While other airports do have Global Entry Enrollment Centers, travelers had previously had to schedule appointments through the CBP’s Enrollment on Arrival program or schedule them on non-travel days. Now, at Washington Dulles, international travelers who are conditionally approved can simply complete the process before departure.
“This is great news for those trying to schedule interviews to complete their membership into this critically acclaimed trusted traveler program,” said Marc E. Calixte, Area Port Director for CBP’s Area Port of Washington, D.C.
Washington Dulles will offer the interviews from 12 p.m. through 8 p.m. each day at its Enrollment on Departure Center inside the B concourse at gate B4. All applicants should arrive early for their flight and bring with them all required documents, including a physical document providing evidence of residency (a driver’s license, mortgage statement, rental payment statement, utility bill, or other document that shows a current address).
Applicants will also have to have their international ticket as only those on international flights will be able to take advantage of the Enrollment on Departure option—domestic travelers will not be able to use the service.
Global Entry allows members to use expedited lanes during entry into the U.S. It also gives members access to the TSA’s other known-traveler program, TSA PreCheck. Global Entry currently has over 12.7 million members and is operational at 77 U.S. airports, including 14 CBP Preclearance locations.
