New York area airports could experience their third ground stop in three days on Tuesday because of severe weather in the area.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Tuesday morning that a ground stop or delay is “probable” at Newark Liberty, LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International, and Teterboro airports. All four of those airports experienced stops or delays on Sunday and then again on Monday. The FAA said that the delays or stops will most likely happen after 5 p.m..

Here’s how many flights are already disrupted at those airports, all according to FlightAware, as of 7:30 a.m.:

  • Newark Liberty has 47 delays and 324 cancellations on Tuesday, after racking up 439 delays and 536 cancellations on Monday. The airport, which is the second-busiest New York City-area airport after JFK, advised passengers on Monday night to check with their airline before heading to the airport.
  • LaGuardia has 42 delays and 126 cancellations on Tuesday after experiencing 347 delays and 477 cancellations on Monday. Just like Newark, LaGuardia on Monday told its passengers that weather conditions were causing disruptions and to check with their airline to determine flight status.
  • John F. Kennedy International, the busiest airport in the area, has 134 delays and another 64 cancellations after being hit with 616 delays and 238 cancellations on Monday.

The weather forecast was bad enough on Monday for the New York City Emergency Management Department to issue a severe weather advisory, which will last through Tuesday.

“New York City Emergency Management has been monitoring this weather pattern with the National Weather Service and we urge New Yorkers who live in flood-prone areas to take precautions. New York City may experience severe thunderstorms and we encourage New Yorkers to take precautions during this evening’s commute,” said NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol.

Travel Change Waivers
As of Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m., the only major carrier to issue a weather waiver for the New York Area is United Airlines, which has an “East Coast Severe Weather” alert in place.

United’s waiver includes more than just the New York airports—Boston Logan, Baltimore, Reagan National in Washington D.C., White Plains, and Philadelphia International are all included—and lasts for those scheduled to fly through June 28.

United is allowing travelers to reschedule travel, as long as the original ticket was purchased on or before June 24, for travel through July 1.

There is currently no weather-specific waiver for Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Alaska Airlines, or American Airlines.
