Marijuana Boosts Colorado’s Tourism, Study Says
Legal weed is a major reason tourists travel to Colorado, the Denver Post reported, citing a study commissioned by the state’s tourism office. The survey revealed nearly half (49%) of visitors this summer were influenced by the state’s marijuana laws.
When planning their trip, 22% of survey respondents said marijuana was “extremely influential,” 20% said it was “very much influential,” and nearly 7% said it was “somewhat influential.”
However, only 8% of respondents said they visited a marijuana dispensary.
The 33-question survey, conducted by SMARI, polled over 3,000 tourists from target markets such as Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, and San Diego. (See more on Marijuana Tourism.)
