Disney Cruise Line Is Bringing Back Self-Serve Buffets

Just as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) drops its warning for cruise ship travel, cruise lines in the United States continue to shift policies back toward pre-COVID normal. On Friday, it was Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Cruise Line announced this week that it is making a number of changes that will see life onboard continue its return to normalcy.

The first is that Disney will lift physical distancing requirements across its ships, a protocol that has been encouraged since its return to service last year. The cruise line is also bringing back self-service buffets across its ships, a move that will mark a major step in restoring the pre-pandemic life onboard.

Guests will also no longer be required to wear face-coverings in any indoor areas onboard—the cruise line had removed that requirement for most of its indoor areas, excluding the Walt Disney Theatre and the Youth Activities spaces, in March, but now masks will be optional for all areas onboard.

Travel advisors and clients can keep up to date with the changes on Disney’s Know Before You Go Page here.
