Orlando Tourist Attractions On ‘High Alert’

Theme parks in Orlando are on “high alert” following Sunday’s mass shooting at a gay nightclub, reported the Orlando Sentinel.

Forty-nine people were killed and dozens more were injured when a gunman opened fire at the Pulse nightclub. It’s the worst mass shooting in United State’s history.

Now, law enforcement in the region is remaining “extra cautious and vigilant in the park areas.” Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld installed metal detectors at the gates after the Paris attacks.

“The carnage that occurred is going to elevate security at all parks, arenas, stadiums, theaters. I believe this massacre will be the ‘tipping point’ for all venues listed above,” Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services, told the Orlando Sentinel in an email. ” ‘Total security’ is the way we must operate. Metal, dogs, officers, random checks, multiple checks as well at the entrances will happen.”
