NSA Hacked Aeroflot Res System, German Magazine Says
The National Security Agency’s Network Analysis Center gained access to Aeroflot’s reservations system, according to a report by the German magazine Der Spiegel. The magazine quoted a document leaked by Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor and whistleblower, saying it had seen the document.
The document cited was dated March 23, 2006, exactly one year after Aeroflot migrated from the SITA Gabriel system to the SabreSonic passenger services system, which includes reservations. It is not known whether the hacking occurred before or after the migration. The same document revealed that the NSA also hacked into Al Jazeera Arab news network’s internal communications.
