Gil Haroche, Co-Founder of Liberty Travel, Dies at 87
Gilbert Haroche, a travel industry icon and co-founder of Liberty Travel, passed away last Thursday in New York City following complications from colon cancer. Haroche opened Liberty Travel with New York University classmate Fred Kassner in 1951. The pair grew the company to become one of the preeminent global travel agencies, and one of the most diverse packagers of travel through its Gogo Worldwide Vacations subsidiary. Flight Centre acquired the two companies in 2008.
