Delta Air Lines Is Bringing Back the Dessert Cart

Big news for frequent fliers with a sweet tooth.

Delta Air Lines this week unveiled its 2023 onboard food and beverage menu. Delta already offers a menu that includes Du Nord Social Spirits, vegetarian options from Impossible Foods, partnerships with three James Beard Award-winning chefs, and more. This week’s unveil build on those options.

“Your onboard meal or beverage should be no different than your go-to restaurant at home, and that’s why we’re constantly reinventing our onboard service at Delta – we always want to surprise and delight our customers with seasonal and fresh menu options,” said Kristen Manion Taylor, S.V.P. of In-Flight Service at Delta. “From delicious Spanish tapas plates to refreshing rosé, there is something new for everyone to enjoy.”

Perhaps the biggest news in the announcement is the return of the carrier’s dessert cart.

The catch for the dessert cart’s return is that it’s also going to be reintroduced in Delta One on international flights. And while options vary depending on the city of departure, it’s still rolling out indulgent menus of items including chocolate ganache, a Cowgirl Creamery wagon wheel, Midnight Moon gouda and grapes, and a vanilla ice cream sundae.

There’s also a slate of new cocktails and drinks coming.

Delta One customers will now have access to La Fête du Rosé, a premium rosé label produced by La Fête Wine Company. At the same time, those on select domestic and international flights starting in March will be able to order Tip Top Proper Cocktails’ Espresso Martini, a strong and made-in partnership with Counter Culture Coffee.

At the heart of Delta’s offerings is still its food menu and guests this year will see some new items.

First Class and Delta One flyers will enjoy some seasonal, local menus on their flights including Questlove’s Cheesesteak made with Impossible and pickle relish and the Gramercy Tavern’s signature kielbasa with crushed fingerling potatoes when flying out of New York’s JFK Airport.

Those flying from Los Angeles will be able to enjoy chicken piccata with lemon caper sauce and Calabrian Caesar salad from Chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo.

Guests flying Delta One to the U.S. from Spain, the U.K., or Ireland will also get the same local flavor. Those flying out of Madrid and Barcelona will get Spanish-style tapas, while those flying out of London, Edinburgh, and Dublin will be able to have a traditional afternoon tea offering.
