Same-Day Booking App HotelTonight Cuts Workforce by 20%

Same-day booking app HotelTonight announced it laid off 37 employees, cutting its workforce by 20%.

The company’s CEO said in a statement the decision was about “making the best choice for the company in the long term” and told Fortune the move will keep its finances on track. Shank noted HotelTonight has seen booking volume grow by 100% this year, and expects to reach profitability by next year.

Several other OTAs also have last-minute booking features, including Priceline and Expedia.
