Manoir Hovey: Perfection in Canada’s Eastern Townships

Manoir Hovey: Perfection in Canada’s Eastern Townships

When Travel + Leisure named Manoir Hovey the #1 resort in Canada, it came as no surprise. Nestled in a charming village in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, this historic gem is truly exceptional.

The property is one of only three Relais & Châteaux properties in Quebec and was recently awarded two Michelin Keys, and its signature restaurant, the Hatley, received Five Diamonds from the Forbes Travel Guide.

Family-owned and operated since 1979, the resort continues to evolve each year. What began as a 32-room inn—with uniquely designed accommodations by the lake or hidden in the woods—has grown into a 52-room and suite property. In 2024, it unveiled a Lakeside Pavilion, featuring spacious, lakefront rooms with balconies and more square footage than those in the historic main building. This addition followed the launch of a brand-new Nordic spa and six spa suites, offering year-round hydrotherapy, cold plunges, saunas with lake views, luxury treatments, and a heated outdoor pool.

Historic Charm with a Modern Touch

Surrounded by 30 acres of birch and pine forest, Manoir Hovey blends heritage charm with refined sophistication. Each of the 52 rooms is uniquely styled with vintage artifacts, nature-inspired tones, and local artwork.

Guests can choose from Classic and Luxury Rooms in the main manor, or opt for Signature Suites located lakeside or forest-side—like the exceptional Cartier Suite, which comes with a private dock and exclusive lake access. The new Lakeside Pavilion offers even more privacy, with separate bedrooms and balconies.

Families are welcome too. Pavilion rooms accommodate up to four guests, and select Signature Suites can be combined to host larger groups. The brand-new Loft Suite was created by joining two suites together.

Every visit feels different—whether you’re in the cozy main building, a lakeside retreat, or the Oriole Suite tucked in the forest with a private pool. But one thing stays the same: the impeccable service and attention to detail.

A Restaurant That Redefines “Hotel Dining”

The culinary program is led by Chef Alexandre Vachon with sustainable menus inspired by Quebec’s forests, lakes, and local producers. Served in a cozy dining room with dark wood accents, white tablecloths, and lake views, Hatley Restaurant delivers terroir-driven cuisine that’s both elegant and deeply rooted in its surroundings.

Guests can enjoy a seasonal-chef inspired tasting menu or order à la carte, with expertly prepared local meats, fish, and vegetarian options – paired with selections from the extensive wine cellar, handpicked by the resident sommelier.

A Spa Experience Worth the Trip

Spa culture runs deep in Quebec—and Manoir Hovey’s brand-new 7,000 sq. ft. Nordic spa is a stunning addition to the resort.

While summer brings lake activities, tennis, kayaking, and biking, and winter offers skating, snowshoeing, and ice fishing, spring and fall once lacked activity options. The spa now fills that gap beautifully, enhancing every stay—no matter the season.

The spa features a thoughtfully designed Thermal Circuit, including a lakeside heated infinity pool, two hot tubs, a sauna, a steam room, a cold basin, lake access, and tranquil relaxation rooms with panoramic views.

With six treatment rooms, the spa offers luxurious therapies using the exclusive Abeille Royale line by Guerlain—including the signature Honey Bliss facial.
