Terrorism Suspicions Lead U.K. to Suspend Flights from Sharm el-Sheikh

Thousands of British vacationers at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh will be scrambling to get home following the U.K.’s decision to suspend all flights from the popular tourist destination in Egypt. The decision comes after Prime Minister David Cameron said it’s “increasingly likely” Saturday’s Russian plane crash likely was caused by a terrorist bomb.

Cameron said only essential air travel will be permitted to fly to the region, and the heightened security will remain in place until they are “absolutely certain it is safe.” In the meantime, the U.K. is working with Egyptian authorities to  “put in place emergency short-term measures that will allow us to safely bring back the British tourists.”

U.S. intelligence officials also said it appears ISIS or its affiliate was responsible for the attack, although no formal conclusion has been reached.
