Rating New York Airports: LGA Is Fast, If Not Pretty
Sure, LaGuardia is tired and has short runways; Kennedy is crowded; Newark is far from Midtown. But there is a lot to love about New York’s three major airports, too.
While LGA, JFK, and EWR are often on the bottom of the travel satisfaction list, they rank well in some areas, says a new survey by AirportXP, a “mobile insights product” that allows travelers to share their experiences at 250 airport.
With renovations at LGA just beginning, the smallest of the three hubs is working well in many key areas for travelers, including fast security lines, availability of baggage carts, ease of access to and signage for parking, availability of retail stores before security, and power outlets and TV programming in the gate area.
JFK was mentioned for its variety of retail stores, along with clear signage and directions to the baggage claim area. Across the river, Newark scored for its fast security checkpoints, availability of baggage carts, and signage directing travelers to parking.
