Norwegian Cruise Line Adds 33 Cuba Sailings

by Daniel McCarthy  April 06, 2017

Even as the airlines cut back flights to Cuba, Norwegian Cruise Line announced it will sail an additional 33 Cuban cruises in 2018.

The new itineraries will be on the 2,004-guest Norwegian Sky, which will operate 30 sailings to Cuba from May through December of this year on pricing packages that include drinks.

Most of the sailings will dock overnight in Havana and a stop at Norwegian’s private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay.

“Cuba is a spectacular destination and we are seeing incredible demand from our guests to experience the beautiful and cultural-rich city of Havana and her warm and friendly people,” said president and CEO Andy Stuart.

For this year, pricing for a four-night cruise starts at $699 per person for an inside cabin, $749 for an ocean view cabins, $999 for a balcony and $1,699 per person for a suite.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Cuban-born president and CEO Frank Del Rio told reporters at Seatrade Cruise Global last month that the first Cuban sailings “sold like nothing else we’ve ever seen before,” at meaningfully higher prices.

Norwegian will continue to offer the same 15 shore excursions on the new sailings, including “The Life of Hemingway in Havana,” “The Legendary Tropicana Cabaret.”
