citizenM, the luxury boutique hotel chain, will have a space at London’s Olympia Exhibition Centre in West Kingsington when it launches its fifth London hotel at the center in 2023.
The hotel is part of at £1.3 billion mixed development of the space, which aims to create a new cultural hub for West London and includes an art-house cinema, a performing art space, a 1,500 theatre, restaurants, shops, cares, and more than 500,000 square feet of office and co-working space.
citizenM’s part of the property will occupy the first floor of the development (its front-of-house space) along with three more guest room floors on top of the existing, historic building. All guest rooms will feature XL king-sized beds, and the trademark creative technology that citizenM has long been known for.
The property will sit on Hammersmith Road, steps away from the Kensington (Olympia) metro station and within walking distance to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. When it debuts, it will join the other citizenM London properties in Bankside, Shoreditch, Tower of London, and Victoria Station, which is set to debut in 2022.
In a statement discussing the launch, citizenM’s CEO, Klaas van Lookeren Campagne, said that, despite the pandemic, the company remains committed to both the consumer and business traveler, and expects the hotel to help serve renewed demand in 2023.
“We’re taking a strategic approach to expansion in London. Despite the current challenges in both the hotel and conference industries, we are confident in the positive future outlook for citizen, and therefore Olympia London fitted the brief perfectly. We believe our offer of affordable luxury accommodation will appeal to visitors of the conference centre, as well as the theatre and music venues, and confirms our commitment to expand in London’s most desirable neighborhoods,” he said.
