by Jessica Montevago
The Meaningful Travel Platform is now open to everyone in the industry for free.
Tourism Cares is opening its Meaningful Travel Platform, originally for Tourism Cares members only, to everyone in the industry.
Created as a business to business tool, the online learning experience focuses on sustainable travel topics, designed to initiate, support, and strengthen travel company’s sustainability practices.
Chapters include a range of topics such as?”Why is Sustainable Tourism Development Important?”?and ?”Guidance for Community Partners during Times of Crisis.” Other resources?can help navigate rising traveler concerns, including “Protecting Animals in Tourism,” “The Rise in Social Enterprise,” and “Orphanage Volunteer: Why Say No.”
A “Meaningful Map” feature will link participants with social enterprises, non-profits, community-led experiences, products, and tours developed, invested in, or vetted by Tourism Cares.
Other takeaways from the educational program include foundations and framework, definitions, and case studies of best practices; marketing insight around the demand for more meaningful travel; meaningful travel topics and guidance documents written and produced by non-profits leading this work as part of their purpose driven mission; and guidance for communities in crisis to better prepare your community partners for emergencies.
