TMR Partners with Unicomm to Launch a Trade Day During the New York Travel & Adventure Show
by Daniel McCarthyIn the absence of the NY Times Travel Show, Travel Market Report and Unicomm, the producer of the Travel & Adventure Shows, are giving advisors the chance to come back to the Big Apple in 2022.
TMR and Unicomm have collaborated to present a travel trade day during Unicomm’s New York Travel & Adventure Show in January. The show will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan starting on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, and will open with a Trade Day Summit, a multi-track event focused on giving advisors the content and research they need to excel in the post-pandemic travel world.
“The Travel Market Report team is delighted to partner with Unicom on the NY Travel and Adventure Show,” Anne Marie Moebes, publisher of TMR, said. “They have a top-notch management team and are well respected for the travel shows they run all over the country. It is time to bring consumers and travel advisors together in a big and meaningful way.”
The Trade Day will be followed by two days of consumer focus events like the New York Times Travel Show previously held. However, advisors will continue to be welcomed on Saturday and Sunday for Travel Advisor Training Sessions – the FAM-TAS Program, which will offer turnkey FAM forums presented by suppliers from around the world.
Unicomm produces the Travel & Adventure Shows, the longest-running and largest series of travel shows in the U.S., and has produced shows in Dallas, Atlanta, and San Francisco since the pandemic shut travel down a year-and-a-half ago. Talking to TMR, Unicomm CEO John Golicz said that the decision to bring the show to New York came down to demand from both advisors and suppliers.
“Earlier this summer when an executive at the NY Times called me to tell me they were getting out of the Travel Show business, we knew we had only one choice. We had to take America’s Favorite Travel Show to the number one market in the U.S. – New York. We had already set our calendar for 2022 but even at the late start point, we as a team agreed it had to be done. Our customers were calling us non-stop asking us to take New York. So we did,” he said.
Golicz added that Friday’s focus on advisors will offer “one of the most tactical and business-centric travel programs, all in a highly efficient format that will allow leaders to take away actionable business strategies as well as industry knowledge and immediately update their business plans.”
The show will also give advisors the opportunity to connect with consumers, who are increasingly eager to book travel coming out of the pandemic. Golicz said that 81% of our attendees of its previous shows did not regularly use an advisor, which is “a big opportunity.”
“A travel advisor can come into New York on Friday, take in highly focused agnostic travel industry content, attend an Opening Night, huge show floor reception and then take their time Saturday and Sunday to work the show floor, meet hundreds of the biggest brands and destinations in travel,” he added.
Travel advisors will get an invitation to register for the show soon. Space is limited for the venue and for Friday’s seminars.
