Disney Parks to Require Masks Indoors Again

Starting Friday, July 30, both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will require masks to be worn by guests aged two years old and up in all indoor venues, regardless of vaccination status.

This means onboard all resort transportation, upon entering and throughout all attractions, inside retail shops and at any indoor restaurants unless actively eating or drinking. At Walt Disney World Resort, this includes shuttles, buses, monorails and at Disney Skyliner. Face coverings remain optional for all guests in outdoor common areas.

The parks originally lifted its indoor mask mandate for vaccinated guests on June 15.

The news comes following a reversal of mask guidance issued by the CDC two months ago as the Delta variant has causes case numbers to rise. The guidance specified that fully-vaccinated people did not have to wear masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings.

According to the CDC, the entire state of Florida is considered a high transmission area with the state accounting for a fifth of the nation’s new coronavirus infections last week, more than any other state.

In a news conference on Monday, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said the area is seeing nearly 1,000 new cases daily, adding “Those are the numbers we saw at the highest peak last year.”
