10 New Luxury Hotels Opening in 2021

After travel was largely put on hold this year, many are expected to take those once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list trips in 2021. Here’s 10 luxury hotels to keep on your radar.
Aman New York, New York
The luxury brand known for its wellness offerings will head to New York City in the spring. The hotel will have of 83 guestrooms and suites, which start at 750 square feet and each have a functioning fireplace. The nearly 25,000-square-foot Aman Spa has rooms dedicated to consultation, examination and therapy, while the Wellness Center will have seven spa treatment suites and two Banya and Hammam Spa Houses. Each Spa House has its own private outdoor relaxation terrace with hot and cold plunge pools. Guests will also have access to Aman’s signature fine-dining Japanese restaurant, a wine cellar available for private wine tastings and events, and a jazz club.
The property is a good one for travel advisors to know about because of its wellness component, which is expected to be a big part of 2021 travel–Travel Market Report’s 2020 Outlook on Wellness found that 71% of advisors expect their annual sales volume for wellness travel to likely increase in 2021 with 18% of advisors expecting an increase of over 25% year-over-year for 2021.
The Woodward, Oetker Collection, Geneva, Switzerland
Located on the shores of Lake Geneva with panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the hotel was originally built in 1901 by French architect François Durel, in post-Haussmann style. Each of the 26-suites boast signature flourishes including marble fireplaces and bookcases. 21 of the suites have a full lake view. The jewels in the crown are the Presidential Suite, designed in elegant ivory tones and offering panoramic lake views from every room with a private dining room and loggia, and the Royal Suite, reached by private lift and designed to resemble a chic Parisian apartment. The Woodward will also feature restaurants by Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and vegetable driven Le Jardinier by Alain Verzeroli, as well as a 1,200 square metre Spa by Maison Guerlain.
Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, Spain
The iconic Hotel Ritz, Madrid is set to open under the Mandarin Oriental flag following the most extensive restoration in its 110-year history. The hotel, which was designed and built under the supervision of legendary hotelier César Ritz, first opened its doors in 1910. The hotel’s new guestrooms encapsulate a classic but contemporary residential style for the 100 guestrooms and 53 suites. Inside the historic Palm Court with its signature glass canopy ceiling, reinstated after more than 80 years, will be a selection of artworks on display. There will also be five restaurants and bars, wellness facilities with a heated indoor swimming pool, a vitality pool, and a steam room, and a contemporary fitness center.
Montage Big Sky, Montana
Less than an hour from Yellowstone National Park, Montage Big Sky will sit within the 3,530-acre Spanish Peaks enclave at the famed ski resort. Throughout the resort, a modern mountain design meets the welcoming atmosphere of a classic mountain ski lodge, featuring sweeping alpine vistas and vaulted ceilings accented by a timeless palette of regional woods and stones. The resort will feature 150 rooms and suites and 39 Montage Residences, and guests will enjoy ski-in, ski-out access, and an onsite 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course.
Resorts World Las Vegas, Nevada
The $4.3 billion resort will be comprised of three of Hilton’s premium brands — Hilton Hotels & Resorts, LXR and Conrad — bringing 3,500 rooms to the Las Vegas Strip where at the site of the former Stardust Resort and Casino. Notable facilities include a 5,000-seat theater, 350,000-square-feet of convention space, an infinity pool looking out on the Strip, a casino, a spa and fitness center, and an array of casual and fine-dining spots.
Pendry Chicago, Illinois
Part of the sister brand to Montage Hotels & Resorts, Pendry Chicago is set in the bustling Loop area as a creative rebirth of the Burnham Brother’s iconic Art Deco landmark famed for its Champagne bottle design. The hotel boasts 364 guest rooms and suites and a signature restaurant and bar overseen by hospitality and nightlife pioneer, Andy Masi. Additional features include a lobby bar and lounge, rooftop pool deck with city views, 12,000 square feet of meetings and event space, curated fitness and wellness programming, and an extensive art collection.
Six Senses Rome, Italy
Housed within 18th century Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini in the center of the city, Six Senses Rome will be the brand’s first outpost in Italy. The main façade, which overlooks Via del Corso, is being restored back to its grand origins. The central staircase will also be preserved. Additional highlights include 95 guestrooms and suites, Six Senses Spa and Roman baths, restaurant, events terrace, outdoor courtyard garden and rooftop terrace with a 360° view of the city and monuments.
St. Regis Bermuda Resort, Bermuda
Just steps from the soft white sands of St. Catherine’s Beach, the oceanfront resort will house 97 guestrooms and 25 suites, all with private balconies overlooking the St Catherine’s beach. The abandoned 19th-century British defense site Fort Albert has been revitalized as the spa, with treatment rooms to be tucked into the former cannon wells. The pool deck area features two swimming pools, luxuriant loungers and private cabanas. The development will also have a Robert Trent Jones designed 18-hole golf course, a signature St. Regis Bar and Wine Vault, and a 24-hour casino.
Waldorf Astoria Cancun, Mexico
This luxury beachfront resort span 100 acres of Caribbean coastline. The five-star Waldorf Astoria Cancun will offer 150 guest rooms and suites, with waterfront or mangrove-facing terraces and private balconies. The sprawling property will encompass as many as five restaurants and bars, amenities including a fitness centre and outdoor pool, and a signature Waldorf Astoria Spa integrating Mexican wellness traditions with native ingredients.
Chatwal Lodge, New York
A sister property to the Manhattan original, hotelier Mr. Sant Singh Chatwal is introducing a luxury retreat in the Catskills in upstate New York. Set on 60 acres along the wooded shores of the 1,000-acre Toronto Reservoir, the retreat will feature hand-hewn timbers, huge stone fireplaces and mighty trunks of 40-foot white pine trees towering from floor to ceiling, serving as an inspiration for its all-suite accommodations. Farm-to-table dining, Ayurvedic wellness services, and luxurious banquet facilities round out the amenities.
