Luxury expedition line, Ponant, has added complimentary WiFi across its entire fleet.
The cruise line will now allow all passengers, regardless of stateroom category, to use WiFi in any area of the ship, without paying a surcharge. It is using a satellite connection service that allows passengers at sea to stay on WiFi in most regions without losing connection.
The addition is another fleet innovation in Ponant’s $12 billion plan to grow its fleet to 12 ships and 460 total departures by 2021.
Aside from the icebreaker ship, a vessel set to launch in 2021 that Ponant recently unveiled will be named Le Commandant Charcot in honor of Captain Jean-Baptiste Charcot, Ponant will also expand its Explorers Series, with a fifth and sixth ship added on top of existing plans last year.
The line is currently readying for its return to Cuba — Ponant will sail its “Cuba: History, Culture & Contemporary Life” itinerary on Jan. 25, 2019. The eight-day sailing on the Le Ponant will call at Santiago de Cuba, Trinidad, Punta Frances, and Cienfuegos.
