On Monday, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Line confirmed that it would be requiring all of its future guests to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their sailing.
The news comes a few days after Uniworld’s parent company, The Travel Corporation (TTC), announced that it would be doing the same for all of its tour guests.
The policy is effective immediately and will require guests to show proof of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria, or Johnson & Johnson), with the final dose administered no less than two weeks prior to sailing.
In Uniworld’s announcement, the river line said the decision was made to prioritize the health and safety of its guests and crew, and to make the travel experience as seamless as possible.
“With many of the countries we travel to now requiring proof of vaccination to enter museums, restaurants, and historical sites, our new requirement will ensure that all of our guests are not only protected, but able to enjoy their river cruising experience to the fullest without restriction,” says Uniworld’s CEO and President Ellen Bettridge.
The vaccination requirement won’t return the guest experience fully back to normal for Uniworld—the line will still require guests to wear a mask while walking around public areas, including the lobby, and when social distancing is not possible. Local mask mandates at the destinations that Uniworld visits will also remain.
