As Puerto Rico moves towards reopening for inbound tourism on July 15, Discover Puerto Rico, the Island’s Destination Marketing Organization, introduced a new travel advisor commission program, which will offer special commissions for a limited time.

Travel advisors will receive 12%-15% for booking a minimum four-night stay. The offer to agents is generally available between now and Jan 2021, but each participating hotel may have specific terms and conditions.

Hotels in the program include Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve, Rincon Beach Resort, Intercontinental San Juan , Copamarina Beach Resort, and Fairmont El San Juan.

The DMO also offers a PRTE (Puerto Rico Travel Expert) certification program for those agents looking to become Puerto Rico experts.

When Puerto Rico reopens, all flights will be diverted the San Juan Airport, where the Puerto Rico National Guard will be assisting with enhanced health screenings of all arriving passengers. Thermographic cameras will monitor temperatures.

Restaurants, spas, museums and theaters are open and operating at 75% capacity. Casinos opened as of July 1 at 75% capacity, with wellness checkpoints at points of entry which will consist of temperature checks and hand sanitation.

The curfew on the Island, in effect from 10 pm to 5 am, has been extended through July 22.

After a surge in cases in the continental U.S., the Puerto Rican government added a travel declaration form requiring a negative molecular COVID-19 test from 72 hours prior.
