Summer may be in full swing, but in just four short months, the magic of the holiday season will return to Walt Disney World. Beginning Nov. 8, visitors will be able to celebrate with festive parties, special holiday décor and treats, and various entertainment.
Sunset Season Greetings will return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Boasting new laser effects and “snow,” beloved characters Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Olaf will be projected onto the famous Hollywood Tower of Terror, sharing their favorite seasonal stories.
Another returning favorite is the nighttime spectacular Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! The new Toy Story Land will also get a special holiday makeover, including holiday songs on Alien Swirling Saucers.
At Epcot, holiday traditions will take over at the World Showcase nations during Epcot International Festival of the Holidays, starting on Nov. 18.
The Candlelight Processional, staring a 50-piece orchestra and a massed choir as a celebrity narrator tells the biblical tale of a savior born to a virgin in Bethlehem, starts performances on Nov. 22. Narrators this year include Whoopi Goldberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Gary Sinise and Pat Sajak. The processional is performed three times per night at the America Gardens Theatre.
Epcot’s Candlelight Processional returns this Holiday Season.
Dining packages for the event, which includes breakfast, lunch or dinner and a guaranteed seat for one of the performances, go on sale July 11. Details on other holiday dining packages will be shared in the coming weeks and months.
New this year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the holiday Festival of Lights in India, Diwali, will be included as part of the new live show UP! A Great Bird Adventure.
Travel advisors looking to promote this magical time of year to clients can access marketing materials including a customizable PDF flyer, ad shells, web banners and webpage.
Beyond the holidays and into the New Year
Clients can ring in the New Year with two New Year’s Eve celebrations at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Pixar Party: A New Year’s Eve Celebration and Disney Countdown to Midnight. Both celebrations will feature entertainment, music, food and other refreshments, plus a viewing of the Magic Kingdom New Year’s Eve fireworks to cap off the night.
Ideal for families, Pixar Party includes kids’ activities like Boot Camp with Toy Story’s Sarge, face painting and visits from Pixar characters. A buffet dinner will serve Woody’s Favorite Lemon Thyme Chicken Breast, Wall-E’s Pan Seared Mahi-Mahi, Rex’s Manhattan Filet, Sulley’s Beast White Cheddar Baked Mac & Cheese, build-your-own salad options, desserts, kids’ favorites like chicken fingers and more.
Located in the Fantasia Ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney Countdown to Midnight (recommended for adults without children) includes a band and live DJ, as well as a seasonal menu. There is also the option to buy a VIP enhancement, the Ink and Paint Club reception, which begins prior to the opening of the main event. In a vintage Disney Animation-inspired room, guests will have photo opportunities with Mickey and Minnie, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and champagne.
At the end of the night, guests will be invited out to the porte cochère, where they will receive a Champagne flute and welcome 2019 with a viewing of the famous Magic Kingdom New Year’s Eve fireworks.
