After pausing because of on-the-ground challenges, G Adventures is set to relaunch its popular Peru tours. The tour operator will restart operations in Peru starting on March 1.
“The last few months have been very challenging in Peru, with local communities and businesses who were pushing to get started following the pandemic, being hit with another tourism dip. Our team on the ground has been monitoring the situation closely, including the reopening of Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, to ensure we could relaunch as quickly as possible once safe to do so,” said Sarah Miginiac, G Adventures’ general manager for Latin America.
G Adventures will offer a number of Peru trips, including:
- Amazon Riverboat in Depth – a nine-day trip through the waterways of the Amazon jungle onboard the 28-passenger Amatists.
- The Incan Journey – a 10-day trip that includes cooking classes in Cusco, visits to ancient archaeological sites, Indigenous weaving experiences, hot springs, local markets, nighttime caiman spotting in the Amazon, and more.
- The Inca Trail – a seven-day trip starting and ending in Cusco that takes guests on one of the world’s most iconic hikes.
Guests should be prepared for some itinerary adjustments in some areas such as Puno as G Adventures, and other tour companies, continue to monitor the anti-government protests and violence that impacted the country earlier this year.
