JW Marriott has officially opened its second resort in the Maldives.
The luxury hotel operator this week debuted the JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, an ultra-luxury retreat nestled in the largest lagoon of Kaafu Atoll. The resort is accessible via a 15-minute boat ride from Velana International Airport.
The property features 80 private pool villas, including 47 overwater pool villas, all offering uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean and direct access to the resort’s private lagoons. Its top accommodation is the three-bedroom Ocean Residence, designed for families and groups.
For dining, the resort boasts seven distinct restaurants and bars, including Athiri, a signature steakhouse; Riva, an Indian restaurant; an infinity pool bar; and several international eateries. One standout is Pure, which offers a farm-to-table experience with ingredients harvested directly from the on-site JW Garden.

JW Marriott is also positioning the resort as a wellness destination, featuring a signature Spa by JW. The spa includes treatments from skincare brand BABOR, a first for the Maldives.
“Our goal is to provide guests with a true sanctuary where luxury and well-being converge. With JW Marriott’s signature warmth and hospitality, we invite guests to fully immerse themselves in the magic of the Maldives, nurturing both mind and body,” said Srikanth Devarapalli, General Manager of the resort.
The Kaafu Atoll property joins JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, which opened in 2019 on Vagaru Island in Shaviyani Atoll. That resort also offers a mix of overwater and beach villas, multiple dining venues, and a strong focus on wellness.
