Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus rebranded its fleet with a new design intended to give the company a more contemporary look.
In its first brand refresh in 20 years, the airline will repaint its fleet – currently decked out in a bold green and white color scheme. The new color scheme features an all-white fuselage, with a dark green tailfin sporting an updated version of the classic shamrock logo.
The change is part of what the airline characterized as an “ambitious growth plan,” aimed at increasing the airline’s transatlantic fleet from 17 to 30 planes by 2023. That will include 16 Airbus A330 widebody jets, plus 14 new A321 long-range single aisle planes. The airline currently serves 15 destinations in North America, with new flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul scheduled to launch this summer.
The redesign, developed with the Lippincott branding consultancy, will appear on all platforms, including a new website and app design, and at all phases of the journey, “ from check-in to the boarding gate and on to the aircraft,” the carrier said in a statement. Flight attendants will also get new uniforms.
At an event in Dublin to launch the new livery, Aer Lingus CEO Sean Doyle said that the rebranding is intended, in part, to call attention to changes Aer Lingus has made in its service, which “reflects our position as a modern, contemporary airline.”
Among the innovations it touted are the roll-out of WiFi on our A330s, automated check-in and bag drop at Dublin Airport, and an improved business class with fully lie-flat beds.
