Co-Founder of Ambassador Tours Dies at 84
Leone Frances Pollard, who with her husband Stan founded Ambassador Tours Inc., passed away today. She was 84-years-old. Pollard and her husband started the agency in the lobby of the old Ambassador Hotel in San Francisco in 1955. The couple’s first reservations were for the Strawberry Lounge near Yosemite and a few airline trips to Chicago. During her 47 years with the company, Pollard oversaw all accounting, operations, and human resources. She became president in 1990 and retired in 2002. The company has grown exponentially since then and is now under its third generation of leadership. Son Gary Pollard, CTC, is now president and CEO.
