Aruba Sees Rise in Tourism

March 03, 2016

For the second straight year, Aruba has seen a rise in visitors.

Total arrivals to Aruba increased by 14%, from 2014 to 2015, totaling 1.22 million stay-over visitors, the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) announced today.

Most Caribbean islands only saw a 3% to 10% increase in annual stay-over arrivals during that time period.

Aruba’s hotel sector grew last year as well, with total visitor nights growing by 8.3% in 2015.

ATA credits the growth to island-wide hotel and airport renovations, as well as the launch of its Happiness Builder campaign, which has tourists post vignettes of their travels.

It’s unclear if visitor numbers for 2016 will also be record-breaking—Centers for Disease Control and Prevention added Aruba last month to its Zika travel alert for pregnant women.
