AmaWaterways on Thursday announced two major promotions to its executive team, naming Alex Pinelo its new chief sales officer and Michal Maguire its new chief marketing officer.
Catherine Powell, the new president of AmaWaterways who took over last month, said in a statement, “Their leadership will be key to growing and nurturing our relationships with travel partners and guests worldwide.”
Pinelo has been with AmaWaterways since 2016 and has risen quickly through the company. In 2018, he was named director of Latin America sales, a newly created role. He was then promoted to vice president of national accounts, another newly created role, shortly after. In 2022, he succeeded Gary Murphy as senior vice president of sales.
Outside of AmaWaterways, Pinelo has worked in the cruise business for the last 20 years. He started as a member of Norwegian Cruise Line’s passenger service team in 1984 and has since served as vice president of key accounts and director of national accounts. He also spent three years as a district sales manager for Disney Cruise Line.
Maguire has been with AmaWaterways since 2019 and most recently served as vice president of marketing, a position she’s held since 2023. She has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications, with time at brands including Royal Caribbean, Seabourn, and Universal Orlando Resort.
