Wyndham Expands Mid-Tier Brands In Canada

by Jessica Montevago  May 17, 2016

Citing the growing number of Canadians traveling domestically, Wyndham Hotel Group announced plans to expand two of its midmarket brands in Canada, opening 40 hotels over the next 25 years.

Under an agreement with PHI Hotel Group, Wyndham will open 25 Wingate by Wyndham properties, multiplying the brand’s footprint in the country by five. Wingate hotels target business travelers and feature complimentary hot breakfast, free high-speed Internet access, large rooms, and access to a 24-hour business center.

The deal will also bring Wyndham’s extended-stay brand Hawthorn into Canada, with 15 hotels.

Properties will open as soon as 2017, in cities including Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, and Halifax.

Wyndham currently has 46 hotels in the pipeline in Canada, for an overall 550 hotels.
